Penfolds Max's Cabernet Sauvignon is a tribute to former Chief Winemaker Max Schubert 1948-1975, a legend in Penfolds history. Max's constant pursuit of excellence paved the way for those who followed in his footsteps and also allowed the status and heritage of Penfolds to grow. Max's Cabernet Sauvignon displays the Penfolds 'stamp' inspired by Max Schubert.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon parcels sourced from vineyards throughout the Barossa. The fruit is fermented for up to 14 days, then aged for 12 months in a mix of French and American oak. Individual parcels of fruit are matured separately to maximise the blend's complexity and finalised through a selection process. The resulting wine is rich and concentrated with aromas of ripe dark berry fruits, blackcurrants and plums with mint and varietal leafy notes. The palate is plush with flavours balanced by fine, textural tannins.

The Barossan showcases the superb fruit sourced from the many fabled sub-regions across the Barossa Valley. A selection of the Barossa's key growers, renowned for their quality and skill, have shared their passion and pristine fruit to create this quintessential Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon. Varying expressions of this classic varietal have been blended together seamlessly, delivering a complex and layered wine with fruit intensity and suppleness. Deep red in colour with a crimson hue, there are aromas of violet, plum and hints of spice and char leading to a rich and luscious palate with plush tannins, vibrant fruit flavour and depth from from American oak.
